“It's all about space, light, ventilation and strong geometry,” said Raymond Chai, designer from CHAI.  “I want to create clean contemporary spaces reflecting simplicity and perfection in detailing to experience and explore sensual spaces created by manipulation of different natural light sources and introducing different dynamic materials, colour and textures, enhanced with gentle breezes and aromas from the contemporary oriental style courtyard.”

Chai has detailed the urban interiors to echo the occupant's modern contemporary lifestyle.  Sharp, horizontal and vertical lines conspire with this period terrace house to articulate a contemporary lifestyle, created with the use of timeless and durable materials including timber, stone, glass and stainless steel.

CHAI's philosophy of architecture is pure recognition of the simple formulas of design.  The basic building structure and its relationship to a contemporary environment is enhanced with minimal, strong clean lines and timeless detailing.

The rear extension of the building reveals contemporary architectural design, achieved with human scale perspective and the simple articulation of rectilinear geometry with clean crisp forms created by these blade walls facing the open courtyard.  The experience of different spaces is derived from the proper orientation to views, natural light, and overall, maximises the three-dimensional volume of the high ceilings.
