WILLIAM YANG
William Yang is a well known social historian in Australia. He was
born in North Queensland in 1943, a third generation
gay Chinese Australian.
William Yang has developed tremendous theatrical talent in the
monologue with slide projections shows which acclaimed international
debut in The North, Friends of Dorothy, Sadness and Blood Links.
In 1999, Sadness was screened at the gay film festivals in New York,
San Francisco and Los Angeles. It became the Most Popular Film at the
Brisbane International Film Festival and the Best Australian Short
Film at the Melbourne Film Festival.
William Yang is one of the best known social photographers for his
incredible observations and documentations on our communities,
people's life and crazy wild parties.
CHAI.TV is grateful to purchase two of the best photos he had captured
for "Ian Jopson as The Angel" in Sweatbox's "Barbarella Party" at
Showgground, and a fascinating portraiture of grown-up innocent twin
brother teenagers of Derek and Manuel in 1994.
Yang has featured exhibition "Miscellanous Obsessions"
at Stills Gallery during the Sydney 2002 Gay Games VI cultural events,
with series of dairy photos of wickedly sexy and many unseen old
and new photo stories of love and obsessions. You can contact Stills Gallery for more photo images of William Yang's work.
