Pitt Street Mall

BACKGROUND
Pitt Street was recognised as the origin and birthplace of the first horse-drawn tram line operation opened between Central (Redfern) Railway Terminal and Circular Quay. It marked as a historical landmark and an iconic sacred place for the national cultural significance and economic development of Sydney Streets and Squares urban development in transportation infrastructure network since 1861.

HISTORY
Pitt Street Mall was created in 1988. The mall is bounded by a city block between King and Market Street with many facades of architecture significance of commercial and retail buildings such as the old Liverpool Arms Hotel, the former Australian Mutual Fire Insurance Society Building, the Strand Arcade, Skygarden with integrated facades of the City Bank Hotel (1903), Old Bank of New South Wales, the landmark Centrepoint Tower (1982), the rebuilt Soul Pattinson Chemist building called Resurgam (1886), and the Myer building (built between 1928 and 1957) ( once owned by the former retail emporium of Farmer and Company, est 1840).

TODAY
Today, it becomes the number one flagship, premier shopping destination in CBD retail precinct, bustling with city lifestyle and fashion in Pitt Street Mall. We are therefore delighted to name it SACRED HILOHPITT ( S HILOHPITT ) or Sacred Fashion Cruise in Pitt, as a marked rememberance of many Sydney Convicts who had sacrified, contributed and developed one of the most important historical urban fabric of Sydney streetscapes.

HILOH
In the context of Sydney beach culture, Hiloh is a fashion cruise; reminicent of a sacred, peaceful island city of HILO BAY in Hawaii. It is a place in high and low, constantly striked by the big wave Tsunami since 1940s (donations are welcome for the Pacific Tsunami Museum Hilo Bay Web Cam program) and rejuvenate to a hip and casual fashion lifestyle of Hawaii coastal island of sun, sand, sea... just like City of Sydney coastal islands and beaches (but without Tsunami wave disaster).
